Welcome to Ysgol Dyffryn Aeron
Ysgol Dyffryn Aeron is a Primary School for children aged 3-11. It was established following the reorganization of primary education in the area. Since January 2025, a purpose-built, brand new building has opened its doors in Dyffryn Aeron, to receive former pupils from Ciliau Parc, Dihewyd and Felin-fach schools, together with a number of other friends. Our privilege as staff is to offer exciting and purposeful educational experiences to our children, through the medium of the Welsh language and the indigenous Welsh culture of the area. With the help of pupils and staff, the Governing Body, parents/guardians and members of the community, our intention is to create an excellent community school that will uphold the best values in terms of education, language and culture.
Our first aim is to ensure that every child who starts at this school is happy in a homely, safe, warm, exciting and Welsh environment. It is in these circumstances that a child works best. We aim to create an exceptional learning atmosphere inside and outside the classroom. The school will also be an institution that builds on strong links with the community and the local culture.
The enthusiastic and experienced staff of this school are specifically trained for teaching primary age children. They regularly attend appropriate training courses and gain expertise in providing a broad, rich and balanced curriculum.
The school makes every effort to ensure your child’s social development by encouraging him to build a healthy and happy relationship with his peers and with the adults associated with the school. He will learn to be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others.
Each child is encouraged to work to the best of his/her ability and each child’s efforts to develop individual talents are supported. Every effort is made to ensure that a child works at an appropriate level and speed in order to reach his/her full potential. If a child needs additional support, this will be arranged after consultation and receiving the support of the parents/guardians. The children are encouraged to take pride in their achievements and to develop a high level of self-esteem and self-worth in all areas across the school.
As parents/guardians, you have a key role in your child’s educational development and you will have opportunities to discuss your child’s progress with the staff regularly, and will receive information on how you can support your child further. We hope you will keep in touch to get information about your child’s progress and advice about how they can be helped. If you are worried about any aspect of your child’s development, come and see us or contact us to arrange an appointment to discuss the matter.
A child’s primary education is a key stage, and the staff and Governors of Ysgol Dyffryn Aeron will do their very best to ensure that your child is happy, while making progress within his/her ability and participating fully in extra-curricular activities.
