Communication within the school is mainly through the medium of Welsh. This school has a strong Welsh ethos, and supports and enables the pupils to use the Welsh language in all social contexts within the school and outside it. We communicate with parents and carers either in Welsh, in English or bilingually, as required. The main language of all performances given by the school is Welsh.

During an initial period of immersion, all learners are taught fully in Welsh, with English being used at times to ensure understanding.
According to the Welsh Government guidelines on the categorization of schools, according to the Welsh-medium provision presented in September 2022, Ysgol Dyffryn Aeron will be in Category 3. There will be an opportunity for pupils, who join the school from a non Welsh-speaking school, to attend Canolfan y Felin (which is on the school’s campus), if eligible.
